Tattoo
after care
DAY 1: IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR TATTOO
● Leave the bandage on for 2–4 hours unless otherwise directed.
● Wash your hands before touching your tattoo.
● Gently wash with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap.
● Pat dry with a clean paper towel — do not rub.
● Apply a thin layer of healing ointment (Aquaphor, Tattoo Goo, A&D, etc.)
DAYS 2–7: EARLY HEALING
● Clean your tattoo 2–3 times daily with mild soap and water.
● Continue applying a very thin layer of ointment after each wash.
● Avoid soaking (no baths, swimming, or hot tubs).
● Expect light scabbing or flaking — do not pick or scratch.
● Wear loose, clean clothing to avoid irritation.
WEEK 2–4: LATE HEALING
● Switch to an unscented lotion (Lubriderm, Aveeno, etc.) once scabbing stops.
● Continue moisturizing 2–3 times daily.
● Avoid direct sunlight; use SPF 30+ if the tattoo is exposed.
● No tanning, swimming, or heavy sweating until fully healed.
IMPORTANT DO’S & DON’TS
● DO NOT pick, scratch, or peel your tattoo.
● DO NOT expose to direct sunlight while healing.
● DO NOT apply alcohol, peroxide, or scented products.
● DO stay hydrated and eat well to support healing.
● DO contact me if you have any concerns.
HEALING TIME
Most tattoos take 2–4 weeks to fully heal. It's normal for color to look slightly dull or faded during the
healing process — this will improve once fully healed.
